Haunting Hollows

Located in San Diego California.  The United States Chamber of Commerce has
declared the Whaley House as being genuinely haunted.
 
The house has all of the signs of being haunted.  Apparitions, cold spots, feelings of
being touched, unexplainable lights, footsteps, rappings, objects moving, odd smells

  I was born in Liverpool but moved to Leeds. The house we moved into was very welcoming. I have an older brother who is 10 years older than me and I was 6 at the time so he was 16.

   This all started when we got a new fan/lights put in the living room and at night on no certain time the lights would flicker.

One spring day in 2007, I was washing my dishes, and as I looked out my kitchen window, me jaw dropped. I saw a body, spirit, ghost ...whichever you may call it, out near my barn. She was about 7-10 years of age. She had two pigtails with red-brown hair. She was wearing ribbons in her hair. She was also wearing a green dressing with flowers embroidered on it. She had beautiful brown eyes.

A few days later, I saw her again so, I decided to go to the City Hall and find information on this girl.

This is a True story and it happened to me. I was born and raised in Massachusetts, USA. I married and moved away to Indiana. My husband and I liked to visit my relatives but he always wanted to stay at the Inn in Newburyport verses staying with my relations.

This incident happened October of 2005. I had heard stories that this Inn was haunted, but had not yet had an experience there.

In 1876, 18 year old Flora Sommerton, a San Francisco debutante left her parents home because she refused to be a part of an arranged marriage. She didn’t come back, and was never found. She died in 1926 in a flophouse in Montana.

The HMS Queen Mary, a luxury passenger ship built in the 1930s, has a long and colorful history filled with both glamour and tragedy. The ship was larger and faster than the infamous Titanic and carried such luminaries as Clark Gable, Bob Hope, and even Sir Winston Churchill.

This experience happened to me at my old house, whether you believe me or not is up to you but it is true.

The old storage sheds along the tracks were abandoned shortly after the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad was built, and it wasn't long before the poor folk of the area moved in. The sheds provided shelter - of a sort - although the winter wind still pierced through every crevice, and the small fireplaces that the poor constructed did little to keep the cold at bay.

The nefarious pirate Blackbeard (who's real name was Edward Teach) was a tall man with a very long black beard that covered most of his face and extended down to his waist. He tied his beard up in pigtails adorned with black ribbons.

She lived deep in the forest in a tiny cottage and sold herbal remedies for a living. Folks called her Bloody Mary, and said she was a witch. None dared cross the old crone for fear that their cows would go dry, their food-stores rot away before winter, their children take sick of fever, or any number of terrible things that an angry witch could do to her neighbors. Then the little girls in the village began to disappear, one by one. No one could find out where they had gone.

Findlay, Illinois I became aware of the shadows shortly after moving into my house in Findlay, Il.. My daughters' playroom was in the basement and they were constantly complaining that they were always seeing something move out of the corners of their eyes. My youngest also said they hovered near the ceiling. In later years, I had my floral workshop in the basement and saw them constantly. It got to the point where I would talk to them with my mind, not that they ever answered back. They were black.

I am new to this forum and hope to get acquainted with everyone. I have read some amazing stories on here, you guys really know how to tell a story. I'm not that good of a story teller since English is not my first language. But hope you'll enjoy reading my story as I did reading yours.

In Terre Haute Indiana, lies the famous Dewees Mansion. Reportedly, a spirit had been discovered a few years before the mansion was destroyed.

The house was built sometime in the early 19th century by George Dewees. Rumors had said that Dewees was a slave trader, and was supposedly very mean. He loved his privacy and even guarded his home tightly.

North Manchester-Haunted Houses -At 104 East 2nd Street there is a big brick house that has apartments in it. We had the entire house as we had a big family. It was months before we discovered it had a second attic, behind a wall in the upstairs kitchen. It joined the upper attic by a passageway. I have seen at least two ghosts at this house and on frequent occasions.

She lurks below the surface of the lake near Presque Isle, her lithe form forever swimming through the weeds and the mire. Pale and green of skin, her yellow eyes shine luminously in the dark, and her thin long arms wrap themselves around the unwary, while foul-green pointed teeth sink into soft flesh and sharp nails at the end of long bony fingers stroke you into the deepest sleep there is.

Waverly mansion was built in 1852 by Colonel George Hampton Young and situated upon his 2,000 acre plantation. The remarkable structure sits just of Highway 50 between Columbus and West Point. Waverly is the epitome of classic antebellum architecture. The Snow family purchased the house in the early '60s and refurbished it after being abandoned for 50 years.

They say that the Llorona was once a poor young girl who loved a rich nobleman, and together they had three children. The girl wished to marry the nobleman, but he refused her. He told her that he might have considered marrying her if she had not born the three out-of-wedlock children, which he considered a disgrace. The girl was determined to have the nobleman for her own, so she drowned her children to prove her love to him. But still he would have none of her and married another.

South of Terre Haute is a stretch of railroad tracks that many say is haunted.

One day, following years of safe travel, a freight train was speeding its way south toward Evansville. Hitting a loose rail the train went careening wildly off the track, killing the train's conductor and its brakeman.

I live in Camby, Indiana, in one of the Heartland Crossing additions. I have been made aware just recently of another couple that is experiencing things in their home as well. I would really like to talk with you in detail and compare some things. My story starts from three years ago.

My name is Emily and I am from New Orleans. About 5 months ago, my husband and I had just settled into our new home. It wasn't until about one week later that I had started to sense unusual activity.

I have experienced these unusual occurrences three times. The last occurrence was one 6 days ago. I remember all of them in perfect detail and will share them with you.

The first time:

The voices of children attempt to lure visitors in with their "Come on, come on". A misty dark fog envelopes you when you stand in the middle. Dark silhouettes have been spotted darting in and around the location. Such accounts are common among some haunted locations. Why should Poor House Road Tunnel in Lexington, Virginia be any different?

In Weatherford, Oklahoma sits an isolated bridge of Big Deer Creek near a local university. A real death shrouded in a ghost tale. After deciding to divorce her husband on the grounds of cruelty, Katy DeWitt James and her 14-month-old daughter got on a train en route to Payne County from Custer County. She met a prostitute named Fannie Norton while on her journey and agreed to stay with Norton's brother. On July 8th, 1905, the two women and child left in a buggy declaring their return in three hours.

St. Omer's Cemetery, located in southern Coles County, is said to be the site of where a woman was put to death because she practiced witchcraft.

The legend says, that in the 1880s, the citizens of the town of St. Omer's put to death a woman named Caroline Barnes, who was accused of practicing witchcraft.

Barnes was buried with three family members, who died around the same time as Barnes, in St.

Much like its counterparts, a portion of Vermont's green wilderness gained a reputation. Between the years 1920 and 1950, a number of people vanished without a trace. In his book, "Green Mountain Ghosts, Ghouls, and Unsolved Mysteries", Joe Citro dubbed an area in Bennington near Glastenbury mountain the "Bennington Triangle". Not only have people disappeared, defying explanation, it has also been an alleged hot spot for UFO activity, strange lights, sounds, odors, specters, mysterious creatures. Even Native American's shunned the place.

The new film "The Haunting in Connecticut" tells the story of the Snedeker family, who in 1986 rented an old house in Southington, Connecticut. Allen and Carmen Snedeker moved in with their daughter and three young sons. While exploring their new home, Carmen found strange items in the basement: tools used by morticians.
